Effective January 20, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas will require that all negotiable instruments for obligations to the Judiciary, such as checks and money orders, be made payable to “Clerk, U.S. District Court.” The court stated that this change is in accordance with policies set by the U.S. Judicial Conference.

According to the announcement, “Pursuant to the policies of the U.S. Judicial Conference, the Clerk’s office may not accept a negotiable instrument made payable by name to an individual court officer or other judiciary personnel.”

This update affects how payments are processed by those interacting with the court and is intended to align with federal guidelines regarding payment procedures.
