Corbin Vincent, a multi-convicted felon from Hot Springs, was sentenced on Apr. 7 to 180 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Vincent’s sentencing follows his conviction after a two-day jury trial where he was found guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Judge Lee P. Rudofsky also ordered Vincent to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

According to evidence presented at trial, agents participating in the Intensive Supervision Program received a social media screenshot showing Vincent displaying a firearm while on active parole. When Vincent arrived at his parole office appointment, agents detained him and searched both his person and vehicle. In the backseat of his vehicle, they found a backpack containing his identification card and a Taurus G2C .40 caliber handgun loaded with one round in the chamber and ten rounds in the magazine. Vincent admitted that he owned the gun and had purchased it from an acquaintance for about $200 because he needed protection.

Vincent has at least three prior convictions for violent felonies and is classified as an armed career criminal under federal law, which qualifies him for an enhanced sentence. His record includes state felony convictions related to firearms possession and four robberies committed within one week in 2007.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated this case with help from the North Little Rock Police Department and Division of Community Correction. The prosecution was handled by First Assistant United States Attorney Michael Gordon and Assistant United States Attorney Stacy Williams.
