Attorney General Tim Griffin has expressed his support for Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s appointment of Boyce Hamlet as Chairman of the Post-Prison Transfer Board. Griffin highlighted Hamlet’s background in law enforcement and state government, noting his recent role as a special agent in the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit since March 2023.

“After many years of proven leadership in law enforcement and state government, Boyce Hamlet joined my office in March 2023 as a special agent in our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Boyce’s experience, expertise, and commitment to serving the people of Arkansas—especially his service as a member of the Arkansas Parole Board—make him an excellent choice to lead the Post-Prison Transfer Board and serve on the Arkansas Board of Corrections,” Griffin stated.

He continued: “I wholeheartedly support Governor Sanders’s decision to appoint Boyce to this role, and while we will miss him here at the Office of the Attorney General, I look forward to seeing him take on this new role with the same passion and acumen he brought to our office.”

Hamlet’s career includes positions such as State Drug Director for Arkansas, member of the Parole Board, Director of Law Enforcement Division at Alcohol Beverage Control, Drug Task Force Agent, and Chief Criminal Investigator for the 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He holds a Bachelor of Science from University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and has pursued graduate studies at The Citadel Graduate College and Oklahoma State University.

Tim Griffin became Arkansas’s 57th Attorney General in January 2023 after serving as Lieutenant Governor from 2015 to 2023. His previous roles include U.S. Representative for Arkansas’s Second Congressional District between 2011-2015 where he participated in several House committees.

Griffin is also an officer in the Arkansas Army National Guard with more than 28 years’ service, holding the rank of colonel. He has served as an Army prosecutor with deployments including Mosul, Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Other assignments have included commands within Legal Operations Detachments and advisory roles at The Pentagon.

Additionally, Griffin has held federal positions such as U.S. Attorney for Eastern District of Arkansas; Special Assistant to President George W. Bush; Special Assistant to Michael Chertoff at Department of Justice; Senior Investigative Counsel for Government Reform Committee; and Associate Independent Counsel under David M. Barrett.

He is a graduate of Magnolia High School, Hendrix College, Tulane Law School, with further education at Oxford University and holds legal admission in both Arkansas (active) and Louisiana (inactive). Griffin resides in Little Rock with his wife Elizabeth and their three children.
