Kevin Williams, 46, of Alexander, Arkansas, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The announcement was made by Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas. The sentence was delivered by United States District Judge D.P. Marshall, Jr.
Williams was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts: being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty on September 22, 2025, to the charge involving the firearm and drug trafficking.
At the time of his plea, Williams was already serving state sentences related to firearms and methamphetamine offenses. Judge Marshall ordered that Williams’ new 180-month federal sentence be served consecutively to his existing state sentences. Williams will also face three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system.
The case stems from an investigation conducted in March 2023 while Williams was on active parole with a search waiver on file. On March 20, 2023, Drug Enforcement Administration agents executed a search warrant at his hotel room. Authorities found significant quantities of drugs and firearms during the search: approximately 900 grams of methamphetamine were discovered in a suitcase and another 850 grams inside a safe. Inside the same safe, agents found a loaded Canik Model TP9SF 9mm pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition, about 107.5 grams of marijuana, five pills marked “M30,” and a digital scale. A second safe contained $10,900.
Williams is classified as a career offender due to at least two prior convictions for violent felonies or serious drug offenses. His record includes four convictions for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, three convictions for possessing drug paraphernalia, and one conviction for unlawful possession of firearms.
According to the press release: “This prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion. The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad. Through historic interagency collaboration, the HSTF directs the full might of United States law enforcement towards identifying, investigating, and prosecuting the full spectrum of crimes committed by these organizations, which have long fueled violence and instability within our borders. In performing this work, the HSTF places special emphasis on investigating and prosecuting those engaged in child trafficking or other crimes involving children. The HSTF further utilizes all available tools to prosecute and remove the most violent criminal aliens from the United States.” The Little Rock branch includes agents from multiple agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Orleans Field Division and Saline County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into Williams’ activities was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration with help from Saline County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Edward Walker prosecuted the case.
